Dear Y10 Parent/Carer,

Y10 Careers Fortnight

As a result of the governments delay to the roadmap easing, we are saddened to inform you that ourselves, and our partner colleges have had to make the very difficult decision to cancel or change our face-to-face careers activities.

I would like to make you aware of the alternative arrangements and plans for the Y10 Careers events.

Although extremely disappointing for both our students and ourselves I wish to assure you that our alternative arrangements are still valuable and will support your child’s careers research, planning and preparations.

Our colleges are working with the aim of offering face-to face opportunities, as soon as they can and will communicate this to you and your child as soon as they become possible.

Access to impartial careers information, direct knowledge of the different pathways, options and access to employers are an essential part of research, and virtual activities still enable this aim.

FRIDAY 2nd July : FE Experience at Hartlepool College of Further Education (HCFE)

Please note that this event has been cancelled. The college will communicate alternate arrangements, when it is able to allow access into the college.
STUDENTS ARE NOW EXPECTED TO ATTEND SCHOOL AS NORMAL IN FULL UNIFORM.

MONDAY 5th – THURSDAY 8th July:  Individual Mock Interview with a Business Ambassador

This event has now been converted online and students interviews with the business ambassadors will take place in school via Teams.

Students get to see what an interview is like, how to act and how to answer interview questions thoroughly and concisely.  The interviews will take place in school via Teams.  This is becoming a popular way for industry, colleges and university to interview candidates, and therefore is still a valuable experience which the students will benefit from.  This supportive experience allows students to practice their answers and interview techniques.

MONDAY 12th July: Employers Fair

This event will now be converted to a ‘virtual’ experience and will be ran during tutor time each day in this week.

Students hear from a variety of different employers and sectors to find out more about the sector, careers and entry routes into those careers.

TUESDAY 13th July: 6th Form Experience at EMS6

Please note that this event has been postponed. The college will communicate alternate arrangements, when it is able to allow access into the college.
STUDENTS ARE NOW EXPECTED TO ATTEND SCHOOL AS NORMAL IN FULL UNIFORM.

Within the Y10 careers programme your child has also been participating in tutortime and Virtues careers sessions. They have completed:

  • FutureMe Student Finance Awareness
  • FutureMe Work Experience
  • FutureMe Revision Techniques
  • Work Experiences opportunities and resources
  • Local Market Intelligence
  • Situation and Aptitude Tests

Please note that all of our careers events are logged on our student’s careers system ‘Grofar’.
