‘Sweet Treat for House Charities’
Tea, Coffee and Cake was order of the day at The English Martyrs Catholic School and Sixth Form College as they invited Parents and Carers of their new intake of Year 7 students to a Coffee Morning to raise money for five special charities.
The Coffee Morning, which was held in the main school hall on Thursday 3rd October, was ran by student representatives from each house under the watchful eye of the house leaders.
Staff and students at EMS are assigned to Houses where students compete in various competitions and activities throughout the year for House Points, with that, each house has a nominated charity which they raise money for.
Funds raised at the combined event, which currently stands at nearly £700, will be shared amongst the charities and go towards their totals which are donated at the end of the school year.
The five benefiting charities nominated by our students for this year are Alopecia UK, Hospital of God, Hartlepool Hospice, Live Life, Give Life and Neoangels.
New features of this year’s coffee morning was a ‘Name the Bear’ competition that ran all week and a raffle which contained a plethora of unbelievable prizes donated from local businesses from Hartlepool.
Prizes included: an Executive Box at a Newcastle United match for 2 Adults courtesy of Utility Alliance. Gift vouchers for The Raby Arms, Olivia & Grey and Rebecca Railton Studios.
