Following the announcement from Buckingham Palace of the death of our sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a period of National Mourning has started and will continue until the end of the State Funeral.
The English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College joins with the nation during this period of prayer and reflection in response to the death of our Sovereign.
On Friday all year groups took part in liturgies, we have a book of condolences available, and our flag is at half-mast. Students will learn about the constitution in Form Time and will take part in citizenship activities as our new King begins his reign. Students have been outstanding, showing respect and compassion.
Lessons and attendance will be as normal apart from on Monday 19th September which has been declared a Bank Holiday for the Queen’s funeral. On Monday 19th school will be closed as a mark of respect.
We recognise that the death of the Queen affects children and families differently. If you or your child needs any support, please do contact our pastoral team or your child’s Pastoral Leader.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Crawshaw
