It is my privilege to welcome you to The English Martyrs Catholic School and Sixth Form College and an honour to have been appointed Head of School from June 2024. The English Martyrs Catholic School and Sixth Form College has a long and rich legacy of serving the community of Hartlepool, providing high quality Catholic education and pastoral care for nearly 50 years.
Today our School and Sixth Form continues to strive for academic excellence, strong pastoral care and a vibrant extra-curricular programme for all students. We are academically ambitious for our students and offer a broad and balanced curriculum that allows students to discover a love of learning and a sense of fulfilment Students that left English Martyrs Sixth Form this summer are an example of recent successes with 100% A level pass rate, with 89% of A levels achieving A*-C grades. Many students have gone on to read medicine, law, Science and Arts subjects at Russell Group Universities. Other students have pursued their future in vocational courses including nursing, education, policing and performance.
As part of the Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust we belong to a family of schools that work with the single moral purpose of giving your child the best possible opportunities.
Your child’s individual gifts and talents will be nurtured and students will be actively encouraged to find joy and friendship in lessons, in after school clubs and in extracurricular activities,. We will be introducing a varied programme of extra-curricular clubs including music, Duke of Edinburgh and sporting activities.
We care for the whole person and care uniquely for each student ensuring each individual is happy and emotionally supported. We are a faith community that acts with compassion, justice, honesty, self-belief, respect, responsibility, confidence and resilience. Our students embody these virtues and are a credit to their families and to our school.
Working together with parents/carers we can live the school motto ‘Per unitatem virtus’ meaning ‘strength through Unity’ so that we can positively shape the futures of our young people so that they can shape the world of tomorrow.
