Dear Parents and Carers
I am writing to inform you that, following the half-term break, we will be introducing mobile phone pouches for all students (Yrs7-11).
This change forms part of our response to evolving government guidance and the increasing national focus on reducing mobile phone use during the school day to support learning, wellbeing and positive social interaction. Our aim is to ensure that students are fully engaged in lessons, free from unnecessary distractions, and able to make the most of every opportunity in school.
We recognise that mobile phones are an important means of communication before and after the school day. The new system will allow students to bring their phones to school while ensuring they are stored securely and remain inaccessible during the school day.
Over the coming weeks, we will share further details about how the system will operate, including practical arrangements, expectations and implementation timelines. Students will also receive assemblies before the launch to ensure they fully understand the procedures and have an opportunity to ask questions.
We appreciate that any significant change may raise questions, and we are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for students and families. We believe this initiative will have a positive impact on learning, behaviour, social interaction and student wellbeing across the school.
Thank you for your continued support. Further information will follow shortly.
Yours faithfully,
Mr A Gray,
Acting Deputy Headteacher
