Dear Parent(s)/Carer(s)

Y9 Newcastle Culture Crawl

We are delighted to offer Year 9 students the opportunity to take part in our Newcastle Culture Crawl, an educational enrichment visit designed to help students explore the rich history, culture and landmarks of Newcastle.

The visit will take place on the following dates:

  • U Band: Thursday 26th November 2026
  • X Band: Friday 27th November 2026

Students will travel by coach, departing from English Martyrs at 9am and returning at approximately 2pm before the end of the school day in time for the school busses. They will be accompanied and supervised by members of staff throughout the day.

During the visit, students will take part in a trail around some of Newcastle's most famous attractions, including Newcastle Castle, Newcastle Cathedral, Tyne Bridge, Life Science Centre, Discovery Museum, Newcastle United Football Club and Grey's Monument. Once the walking trail has been completed, students will have lunch and a short period of time to shop and visit the Newcastle Christmas Markets.

Please ensure your child brings the following:

  • Wear full school uniform
  • Bring a warm, waterproof coat
  • Bring a packed lunch or money to purchase food
  • Bring any required medication

Students in receipt of Free School Meals will be provided with a packed lunch by the school.

Students may also bring a small amount of spending money should they wish to purchase items from the Christmas Markets. Please note that students are responsible for their own money and belongings throughout the visit.

This promises to be an exciting and enjoyable day, providing students with the opportunity to learn more about the history, culture and attractions of our local area.

For your child to participate, please give consent via the Arbor App - Trips. The deadline for consent is Friday 20th November 2026.

Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions regarding this visit, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Yours Faithfully,
Miss. Leighton
