Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for your support so far this year, which has been a major factor in the significant improvements which have taken place under new leadership at the school, resulting in an excellent standard of education for your child. As parents you are absolutely essential to this process and we wish to make it easier for you to track and respond to how your child is performing within the building. We wish to make it easier for you to help.
You will be aware that we have now moved to the Arbor MIS system which is the overarching software used within any school. We will be moving in phased process, beginning with current Year 9 from the praise and reward, warning and sanction system which currently runs via ClassCharts, to the Arbor system throughout the summer.
Pleasingly, it will be easier to track your child’s success and also support interventions for your child should they require extra guidance on expectations.
NB All wider interventions via Pastoral, Attendance Safeguarding and SEND continue via our ‘Team Around EMS’ process – please contact your Year Leader team for any clarification.
- The reward system has been comprehensively overhauled – the school currently runs at 84% positive and we anticipate that this will further deepen our core mission and values so that you child can continue to thrive
- You will be able to see at C1 (currently known as E)– when any initial low-level intervention has taken place within a lesson to enable your child to succeed.
- At C2 (currently known as M) you will be able to see a greater breakdown of what has occurred to support your child as they have received a formal warning in class
- At C3 you will receive much more detail – if your child is removed from class (currently S), if they have done something outside of class (currently O) or if they are not attending class or structured intervention (currently T) as well as uniform and readiness to learn expectations (currently R1 and R2)
- You will also be made aware if your child has missed detentions, or other supportive interventions via our Emmaus support package
- Late to Lesson (currently L) and Late to School (currently LS) will continue to be monitored, sanctioned and supported
You will have more information, and this system will continue to strengthen home and school relations, whilst ensuring maximum reward for your child’s best efforts, which is the bedrock of any school.
Year 9 will begin on this system from Monday June 1, and a phased process will begin and be signposted to you as the summer continues
If you have any specific questions about this, please contact the school and ask for these to be directed to Mr. L Nicholson
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours faithfully
Mr N Lindsay
Director of Pastoral Care
