Dear Parent/Carer,
I am writing to share some very positive and welcome news regarding home-to-school transport for our students. From September 2026, students who live more than two miles from the school will be eligible to access free transport.
We recognise that, until now, the cost of travelling to school has placed a considerable financial burden on many families. At a time when household budgets are already under pressure, these additional expenses have not always been easy to manage. We have listened carefully to these concerns and understand the challenges this has created. This new provision represents a significant and much needed step forward in supporting our families, ensuring that the cost of transport is no longer a barrier to accessing education. We are absolutely delighted to share this news with you.
At The English Martyrs Catholic School and Sixth Form College, we are committed to putting the best interests of our students and their families at the heart of everything we do. Supporting families in practical ways, such as easing the financial pressures associated with school travel, is central to this commitment.
Reliable transport is also crucial in promoting strong attendance. Regular attendance remains one of our highest priorities, as it is essential for students’ academic achievement, wellbeing, and future success. By removing the cost factor, we aim to further support punctuality and consistent attendance, ensuring that every student has the very best opportunity to thrive.
