Dear parents/ carers of students in year 11,
As we come to the end of this term and the year, we wanted to share with you what a brilliant start to Year 11 students have made.
Year 11 have shown incredible focus and diligence for learning. They have worked hard in lessons, in Mastery and at home to do their best in recent Prep exams. Teachers have commented on how hard students have worked and how they are all approaching GCSEs and other level 2 courses with drive and a strong work ethic.
Mrs Hogarth wrote to you a few weeks ago and I am pleased to confirm that The Department for Education (DfE) and Ofqual have confirmed that full equations and formulae sheets will be provided for GCSE Maths, GCSE Physics, and GCSE Combined Science exams in 2024 only. We can also confirm that we’ll provide formulae sheets for our Level 2 Certificate in Further Mathematics (8365) exams in 2024 as well. This decision is to account for young people
taking GCSEs in the summer and in November, who will be the last learners to experience two years of national closures during secondary school. To recognise that, Ofqual and the DfE feel it’s right that they have some additional support.
Year 11 have enjoyed enrichment and wider opportunities with real commitment. Many students in Year 11 are prefects and others have had leadership opportunities. Year 11 have been awarded 18,093 achievement points in total. 32 Year 11 students have attended school everyday and 120 students have attended 95% or more of the time this year.
As a year group, they have bought such joy and maturity to school life. Every day, they demonstrate the school virtues of respect and responsibility, justice and compassion, self-belief and resilience and confidence and honesty.
I just want to express how proud I am of you all. The way every one of you conducted yourselves during the recent Prep exam period was incredible: you were prepared, showed true resilience and were very well behaved. As a year group, there have been great achievements. The Improtech team have excelled in recent matches, and I wish them luck in their upcoming games. We have established a Rugby team this year who were awarded a medal this week for their efforts. Year 11 were a key part of the Oliver production on and off the stage and I thoroughly enjoyed watching these students in this performance. Year 11 does not come without its challenges, but I am here to support you every step of the way, as are all other members of staff.
We are very proud of Year 11, and we wish you all a very happy and holy Christmas.
Yours faithfully,
Miss L Taylor - Pastoral Manager of Year 11
