Dear Parent / Carer,
Last week, we met with Year 11 tutor groups to ensure students understand the logistics and procedures in relation to examinations. I have included the power point shared for your information. Prep Examinations, which begin week commencing 14th November, provide us with an important opportunity to evaluate the knowledge and skills which Year 11 have accumulated so far. However, another key benefit of these ‘Preps’ is that they allow students to become accustomed to the environment and expectations in relation to external examinations. For some, this will be their first time in an exam hall and being as comfortable as possible with the setting and practices is essential in helping students to give of their best in an examination situation. We are also planning on a celebration and reflection morning following the examinations where we will distribute results in a sensitive and supportive way. I will contact you soon with details of this.
Some key rules to note: pencil cases must be clear, no mobile phones or watches / wrist wear can be taken into the exam hall, all notes / labels on bottled water must be removed prior to entry to the exam hall, students will enter the hall in silence and remain in silence until they have left the exam hall. If a student needs anything during an exam, they should raise their hand and one of our invigilators will assist. We are making the Sixth Form Library available for private study for Year 11 students who wish to come in before school or stay after school. Mastery will help support student revision.
We are here to support students and parents. If you have any questions throughout the coming weeks, please do get in touch with Mrs Harris, Examinations Officer, Mr Blackwood, Pastoral Manager or me.
With every best wish,
Colette Hogarth
Deputy Headteacher
