Dear Year 6 Parents/Carers,

I hope this letter finds you well. We are excited to share that our transition days have been extended from two days to four days. This means that your child will now have additional time to settle in, explore their new learning environment, and engage in activities that will help them feel confident as they begin their secondary education.

The transition days will take place from Monday, 14th July to Thursday, 17th July 2025 and will be structured as follows:

Year 6 students will spend four days at English Martyrs, where they will have the opportunity to become familiar with their new environment, spend time with their new tutor group, and meet fellow students. They will participate in a variety of activities and taster lessons designed to help them feel comfortable and excited about this next stage of their education.

During the transition days, students are expected to arrive at the school no later than 8:40am, as the day's activities will begin promptly at 8:45am. The school day will conclude at 3:00pm. Students should wear their Primary School Uniform during their transition days. Students con bring a packed lunch or have a free school lunch (please note that we do not allow any food containing nuts).

To facilitate a smooth and safe pickup process, St Anne's car park will hove a designated 'Y6 Zone' where parents and carers con collect their children. This is the car park directly beside the school and runs alongside Catcote Road. However, it is essential that we know how your child will be returning home each day. Therefore, we kindly ask you to complete and return the consent form that was previously sent out, indicating your child's transportation arrangements. If you have completed this already - thank you.

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of a letter than has recently been published on our website by Mr A Rogers (Executive Head Teacher) regarding changes to the school day for the next academic year 2025/26.

From September 2025, the school day will run from 8:45am to 2:45pm, with a split lunchtime lasting 30 minutes per session. This adjustment aims to create a calmer, more enjoyable dining experience, giving pupils ample time to eat without feeling rushed. It will also particularly benefit younger pupils as they settle into their new school routine.

For students using HBC bus services, morning schedules remain the some, while afternoon bus times will be adjusted accordingly to accommodate the new end time.

We understand this may require some adjustments to daily routines and encourage you to discuss these changes with your children.

The new school day will look like this:

If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at English Martyrs School.

Kind Regards,
Mr. M Hutchinson
