Students at The English Martyrs Catholic School and Sixth Form College recently travelled to Seaham to carry out both human and physical geography fieldwork as part of their preparation for GCSE Geography Paper 3.
The fieldwork experience provided students with the opportunity to apply their classroom learning in a real-world environment, developing their understanding of geographical processes and strengthening the investigative skills needed for their examinations.
Throughout the day, students demonstrated outstanding commitment, enthusiasm and resilience. They approached each task with confidence and maturity, collecting data, making observations and applying their geographical knowledge to a range of fieldwork activities.
Fieldwork plays an important role in geography education, allowing students to deepen their understanding of key concepts while gaining valuable practical experience outside the classroom. The visit to Seaham enabled students to put their learning into practice and develop the analytical skills required for their studies.
Staff were incredibly proud of the effort, determination and positive attitude shown by all those involved. The trip was a fantastic example of learning beyond the classroom and highlighted the dedication of students as they prepare for their upcoming assessments.
