Dear Parent/Carer
We are looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming Options Evening which will take place on Thursday 6th March, between 4pm and 6pm.
In advance of this evening, we invite you to read our Options Booklet which outlines key information about each subject area.
It is essential that students embark upon a path that not only allows them to reach their potential but also offers them the opportunity to progress their learning post 16. To this end, through careful assessment and evaluation, we guide students towards a personalised path that fulfils this aim.
We have identified that your child will be on Yellow pathway and we have outlined the structure of this pathway below so you can discuss this with your child prior to the evening.
Your child will be asked to choose three options:
Option One
Choose one option from the following
Geography |
History |
Option Two and Three
Choose two options from the following:
Art & Design |
Photography |
Health & Social Care |
GCSE PE/CNAT Sport* |
Child Development |
Fashion & Textiles |
Hospitality & Catering |
Performing Arts |
GCSE Business/BTEC Marketing* |
Creative IMedia |
Product Design |
|
*Pupils choosing this option will be directed towards the course which is most suited to their learning style
Your child will also be asked to select a reserve option in option block three.
More information on each of our courses can be read in our Options Brochure here
We do everything we possibly can to ensure students can pursue the options they have selected on their individual pathway. Where this is not possible, parents will be contacted and consulted.
On the evening, Mrs Hogarth will lead two identical short presentations at 4pm and 5pm in St Anne’s Hall to give an overview of this important process. There will also be an opportunity to speak with subject staff about the content and assessment of the courses to enable you to make an informed decision.
During the evening of Thursday 6th March, your child will receive a link via their school email which will take them to the page where they will select their options. If your child is unable to access their school email, they must see a member of staff before this date or they will not be able to access this important form. We will be supporting students with how to access their email in IT lessons prior to Thursday 6th March. The deadline for option form completion is Monday 17th March 2025.
If you have any more general options queries, please contact ems-options@ems.bhcet.org.uk in the first instance.
Yours sincerely,
Mr T Rogers - Deputy Headteacher & Mr I Walker - Assistant Headteacher
